ABOUT DESKMAP

Built around the real room.

A seating plan should support the way you teach, with room for the details a random list misses.

The idea

ClassSeating is a classroom seating project focused on custom room layouts, clear seating rules, and preserving assignments that already work. It is intended for teachers who want a practical plan without creating an account or uploading a class list.

Where the project stands

This release includes a local roster editor: paste names, review CSV imports, edit students, and save your class list on this device. You can also arrange furniture, assign and swap students, lock seats, shuffle unlocked placements, undo changes, and print or export a PNG. Rule-based optimization is planned next. All product preview scores and students are fictional examples.

How the planned optimizer will work

The optimizer will distinguish essential rules from preferences, preserve locked assignments, and compare candidate arrangements. Its result should explain both satisfied requirements and unresolved preferences. This is planned deterministic optimization, not an AI claim. A score will describe the entered rules, not replace a teacher’s judgment.

Our priorities

Keep names on the teacher’s device, make controls accessible without dragging, and explain tradeoffs plainly. We don’t use invented testimonials or classroom success statistics.
